On March 13, 2017 the Dutch Directors Guild (DDG) handed out the annual Directorsnl Awards for the most remarkable achievements in directing.
VoorDeFilm made two video essay’s to introduce the nominated films in the categories Best Feature Film and Best Documentary.

Nominated for Best Feature Film were: Beyond Sleep, Layla M. and Tonio. All films feature protagonists looking for their place in the world. The filmmakers let the viewers enter the mind of the main characters:

Nominated for Best Documentary were: De Kinderen van Juf Kiet, Strike a Pose and Stranger in Paradise.

All three films deal with finding and keeping your dignity as a human being. Are we dependant of the meanings and actions of others of is our dignity within our selves?
